Arranging big pictures in a small space

Create a big impact in a small space!

This is the first in a series of articles to help you find inspiration in decorating your own challenging spaces with great pictures of your family!

Figuring out how to display your images on the wall can be hard.  When you have a modern home with a great room there are often few walls available to display your images.  One way I love to get bigger prints up on the walls in small spaces is by using gallery wrapped canvas prints.  They are images printed on canvas then mounted on wood stretcher frames.  The edges are wrapped around the wood frame which gives them the common name of gallery wrapped canvas.

There are several reasons gallery wrapped canvases are great for small spaces.

1. There is no frame or mat taking up extra space on the wall.

2. The image is wrapped around giving the image more weight since you also see it from the side.

3.  They come ready to hang.  OK, so this isn’t a reason for small spaces, but it is one of my personal favorite reasons for getting them!!

4. They can be leaned on a shelf or hung directly on the wall.

One of my photography clients had a challenging space to incorporate images from their newborn session.  She measured the space, thought about how the canvas prints could overlap and then asked my opinion.  We figured out the best order for the images, then ordered them.  When they came in she played with them a few ways and settled on this beautiful configuration.

Have you come up with some clever ways to hang images in small spaces?
